Hi there, we are Vanessa and Kyle, it is nice to meet you. Here is a little back story of how KC Custom woodworks came about.
We both met while working at Home Depot. In 2009 I won an art competition that offered a full paid art scholarship in graphic design. Years have past and I started to work at Home Depot part time to keep afloat while still pursuing the field of graphic design solo. I met Kyle when he transferred to the department I was working in. We became work acquaintances, but nothing more. One day, during the holidays, I decided that I was going to draw a picture for Kyle using my favorite brand of colored pencils and markers. I knew that Kyle was going to go on vacation for two weeks to be with family during the holidays, so I made sure I gave him my little drawing before he left for vacation.
And it was then, before he clocked out, that Kyle, handed me a neatly wrapped gift and I exchanged my drawing tucked inside a Christmas card. We both opened our gifts. Klye had bought me a pack of my favorite brand of markers. This was a colorful way into my heart, we exchanged numbers that day, yes barely. Even though we were fond of each other for over a year. We spoke on the phone everyday while he was on vacation. We got to know each other even more, I quickly discovered he shared my passion for the arts as well.
I learned he had an associates in graphic design and a bachelor's in fine arts in sculpture, no wonder with all our similar interests I knew I had found my soulmate, and I swooned, and we have been happily married for 4 years now.
Something that was once talked about was to start our own business, combining both of our talents as we both majored in arts. We always joked about it and would make up scenarios of what we would sell and what people would buy. We would go to different event with friends and family and often been told,
“Why are you not selling here “
“You could make that “
“Go ask how you can participate”
We never imagined KCC being what it is today. It was once a pipe dream that has now come to fruition. something that was once talked about to put our creativity and talent together.
We are so excited to showcase what we can collectively create for you, nothing is too big or too small, we started from humble beginnings and will always remain there.
